Orchards & Vineyards
Effective wildlife control and invasive vegetation management.
Using FlightTurf® on the orchard and vineyard floor provides a minimalist approach to protecting the areas where unwanted vegetation would otherwise grow. Unwanted vegetation management is one of the key maintenance efforts necessary to maintain healthy and sustainable orchards and vineyards. So many orchards and vineyards organic or otherwise apply broad spectrum herbicides to manage vegetation. Without vegetation the second biggest maintenance effort of soil erosion and loss becomes a problem. This repeats every growing season requiring much greater resources of fertilizer and amendments than would otherwise be necessary.
FlightTurf® offers a simple and effective method for vegetation management, erosion control, soil stabilization, 90% or more herbicide reduction, and reduces unwanted wildlife. A thick stand of FlightTurf® captures moisture that would otherwise be lost drawing any available irrigation deep into a healthy sustainable soil biomass making it optimally available for the purpose of growing your orchard and vineyard.

Jim Adkisson has a 4 acre vineyard on the slopes of the Branciforte Creek watershed in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Plagued with erosion problems, he scattered seed January 2018 in the most troublesome areas above his Bocce court. He’s been quite impressed with the results.
